Men's Soccer Falls to Princeton, 1-0

PHILADELPHIA--Princeton scored an early goal and held on to defeat Penn, 1-0, Saturday night at Rhodes Field. The Quakers fell to 5-8-2 and 2-3-0 in the Ivy League. Princeton improved to 5-8-2 and 3-2-0 in the Ivies.

The Quakers were sluggish in the beginning, and it cost them as the Tigers struck early with a goal from their leading scorer, Kyle McHugh, at just 5:44. McHugh was able to finish a cross from Ben Harms with a one-timer from the left side.

Penn came alive after allowing the goal, and had more chances in the remaining minutes of the half, but were still outshot 8-2. In the second half, Penn's offense started to generate some more scoring chances, outshooting the Tigers, 4-1. Newcomer Loukas Tasigianis put two shots on goalwhile Andrew Ferry nearly tied the game with four minutes left to play.

Princeton's Joe Walter made three saves in gathering the shutout, while Penn's Kevin Sweetland made two saves. Though the stat line didn't show it, Sweetland came up with several key plays down the stretch to keep the Quakers'in the game.
