Men's Soccer Readies for Ivy League Battle

PHILADELPHIA--The Penn men's soccer team will host the Yale Bulldogs Saturday at Rhodes Field in the nightcap of a double-header with the women. Two-games into Ivy League action, the title--and NCAA autobid--is up for grabs. Penn enters the game in a three-way tie for third place in the Ivy League with a 1-1 record (4-6-2 overall). Yale is winless in the League, but unbeaten with an 0-0-2 Ivy mark (2-4-4 overall).

The Quakers are looking to halt a two-match skid after dropping two hard-fought games to Dartmouth and Rutgers in the last week. The Red and Blue are due for some scoring after being shut out in those losses. Junior Andrew Ferry had numerous chances against Rutgers but was not able to add to his team-leading three goals.

Yale is riding a six-game unbeaten streak, but is 2-0-4 in that span. Most recently, the Elis drew with Central Connecticut (2-2) and Cornell (1-1). Tyler Guse leads the Bulldogs with two goals, but six others have scored as well.

In goal, Penn's Drew Healyis sporting a 1.35 goals-against average. For Yale Erik Geigercomes in with a cool 0.91 goals-against average and threeclean sheets.

Last season, Penn scored an early goal thanks to Keith Vereb on a direct kick and maintained the lead for a 1-0 win in New Haven, Conn.

Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m.
