Women's Basketball Falls to Princeton, 67-55, in Season Finale

Box Score

PRINCETON, N.J. - Junior Joey Rhoads scored 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting, but it was not enough as the Penn women's basketball team fell to Princeton, 67-55, Tuesday evening at Jadwin Gymnasium.

With the win, Princeton (21-6, 12-2 Ivy League) clinched a share of the Ivy League crown with Brown. Dartmouth, which defeated Harvard 76-55 Tuesday evening, also clinched a share, forging a three-way tie atop the Ancient Eight.

The two teams flip-flopped the lead in the first half, with the game tied at 24 with 4:36 left before the half. However, Princeton hit a 10-4 run to end the first half with a 35-29 lead.

The Quakers (5-22, 3-11 Ivy League) would not go away quietly, however. They hung in for the majority of the second half, keeping it within six until the Tigers went on a 7-0 run in the late going to take a 60-48 lead. Rhoads' three-pointer with 3:58 remaining cut the lead to nine, but Jessica Berry hit a layup seconds later and the Quakers never trailed by less than double digits the rest of the way.

Senior Jennifer Fleischer, playing her final career game, scored eight points and had six rebounds and a block. Four Tigers had double figures in the scoring column, including Meagan Cowher with 20 points and Becky Brown with 16.

Princeton must now wait and see their destiny. A random draw will determine two teams from the three-way knot to play Friday night, with the winner of that game meeting the third team to determine who gets the Ivy's NCAA bid.
