COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Penn women's lacrosse team has started its season off at 3-0 after a 14-10 win Saturday afternoon at Ohio State.

Ali Ryan scored four goals in the game, bringing her season total to eight in three games, as the Quakers (3-0)held off a large charge by the Buckeyes (0-3).

In a game of streaky scoring, The Quakers burst out of the gates, taking a 4-0 lead in the first six minutes thanks to two goals by Emily Cochran and one each from Chrissy Muller and Ryan. Ohio State would score four of the next five goals, though, to make it a 5-4 game. The Quakersresponded with Rachel Manson and Muller, who would score her second and third goals of the game to end the half.

The second half was more even, with Manson and Allison Ambrozy scoring the period's first two tallies but Ohio State again scoring four of the next five goals. The Quaker defense held, and the Buckeyes never cut the lead to fewer than four goals.

Muller and Cochran ended up with three goals apiece, while Manson had two goals and three assists. KC Carter was the leading Buckeye scorer, with three goals.

Karrie Moore and Sarah Waxman again split time between the pipes, with Moore stopping three shots and earning the win. Waxman was called on for six saves in the second as Ohio State peppered her with 15 shots. Penn held a commanding 33-22 advantage in shots, and controlled 17 of 26 draws.

The Quakers return home on Tuesday to face defending national champion Northwestern at 3 p.m.
