Penn's Men's Basketball Rebounds With Win Over Drexel

Philadelphia?The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team righted itself with an 81-50 win over city rival Drexel University at The Palestra on Nov.23. Sophomore Mark Zoller led all scorers with his second double-double of the season, scoring 22 points and hauling down 12 rebounds. Zoller hit his second and third career three-pointers on the night, one of which came at a crucial point in the first half when the Quakers trailed the Dragons. With his three-pointer, Penn pulled ahead on a 13-5 run to finish out the half. Zoller scored 10 of those points during the run, and the Quakers carried a 33-25 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, Penn (2-2) never relinquished the lead. Zoller was one of four Quakers scoring in double digits assenior Tim Begley scored 22 points, while sophomore Steve Danley added a career-high 15, while classmate Ibrahim Jaaber poured in 13 points, dished out a career-high six assists and a career-high six rebounds. Danley also had eightboards on the night. Drexel (0-1) was led by Sean Brooks, who scored 13 points, and Jeremiah King, who logged 11 points.

The Quakers shot 58.3 percent from the field and went 11-for-14 (.782) from beyond the arc. Penn held the Dragons to 28.3 percent shooting from the floor and only 19.0 percent from three-point land.

With the win, the Quakers rebound from a two-game losing streak. For the second year in a row, Drexel has lost to Penn in its (Drexel's) season opener. The Quakers return to the court on Wednesday, Dec. 1 when they hostBucknell in a 7 p.m. match-up.
