PHILDELPHIA?The University of Pennsylvania men’s soccer team debuted at tied for seventh in the 2006 NSCAA Northeast regional poll, Tuesday. The Quakers earned the ranking in the midst of a four-game winning streak and claiming the Penn Soccer Classic title, Sept. 17.
Penn (4-1) has been ranked nationally the past three seasons and has been a mainstay in the regional rankings. The Red and Blue share this week’s rank with Connecticut.
Last weekend at the Penn Soccer Classic, the Quakers defeated in-city foe Saint Joseph’s 4-0 and Duquesne 1-0. Sophomore Mike Klein scored two goals, including the match-winner, and an assist against Saint Joseph’s, Sept. 15 and was named the Ivy League Player of the Week and Philadelphia Soccer Seven Co-Player of the Week for his efforts.
Penn takes its ranking into Wednesday’s match at La Salle. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
