Mike DeGaetano was hired at the University of Pennsylvania in July 2025.

DeGaetano came to Penn from the Texas Stars—the American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars—where he spent four years as head athletic trainer. Prior to that, DeGaetano spent nearly two years as head athletic trainer for the Orlando Solar Bears, which is an East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.
 
DeGaetano graduated from Penn State in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Movement Science and earned a master’s degree in athletic training from West Chester University in 2019.

DeGaetano has been a National Athletic Trainer Association (NATA) member since 2017 and a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer since 2019.

DeGaetano resides with his wife and their daughter.
