Karlie Crispin Jewitt is in her fifth year at Penn Athletics and her second as the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success. In her current position, Jewitt is responsible for supporting the recruiting efforts for all of Penn's varsity intercollegiate programs as the primary athletic department liaison to the University’s Office of Admissions and Student Registrations as well as Financial Services. She also is the primary academic support contact for select teams, and continues in her role as the staff representative to Penn’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Jewitt originally came to University City as an Assistant Director for CSAS, overseeing Penn’s Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Program (SAAAP) which includes study halls and tutoring. She also served as the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics’ liaison with multiple offices on campus including the Alcohol & Other Drug Program Initiatives (AOD), Penn Violence Prevention (PAVE), and the Anti-Hazing Committee. Jewitt also coordinated career development opportunities for student-athletes along with Assistant AD Lauren Procopio.
Jewitt came to Penn from the University of Tennessee, where she was an assistant academic counselor in UT’s Thornton Center for Student-Athlete Development. There, she worked directly with the Vols’ women’s basketball program as well as track & field, women’s golf, men’s tennis, and women’s rowing.
A native of nearby Pitman, N.J., Jewitt attended Villanova University and was a member of the Wildcats’ women’s basketball team, starting her career as a walk-on but earning a scholarship for her final two years. She was a captain her senior year and a three-time Big East All-Academic Team selection. The Wildcats won two Philadelphia Big 5 titles during Jewitt’s career and advanced to the WNIT three times, including a run to the semifinal round her senior year and the quarterfinals her sophomore season.
A communication major at Villanova, Jewitt was a Babe Zaharias/Vicki Huber Athletic Scholarship recipient and was the women’s basketball program’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative for three years, serving as co-President her senior year. She also spent her senior year working in Villanova’s Office of Academic Support for Student Athletes.
Following her graduation in 2017, Jewitt remained at Villanova as a graduate assistant with the women’s basketball staff while also pursuing her master’s in education.
Karlie and her husband, Kevin, live in Pitman, N.J.. Karlie’s older brother, Joe Crispin, is currently the head men’s basketball coach at Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J., while another older brother, Jon Crispin, is a basketball analyst for ESPN. Karlie’s older sister, Kellie, played basketball at Elizabethtown (Pa.) College.
