  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Julie Weiss joined the University of Pennsylvania women’s lacrosse program staff as a volunteer assistant coach in the spring of 2020.

The 2020 season was unchartered territory for the entire college sports world, as all Spring sports were cut short due to the worldwide outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19. On March 11, 2020, the Ivy League canceled all spring sports across the conference, bringing the Quakers' season to a close with a 4-1 record. Through those five games, the offensive produced 69 goals and 30 assists.

A former dual-sport athlete, Weiss was a four-year starter on both the Field Hockey and Lacrosse teams at James Madison University from 1996-2000.  An All-CAA and Academic All-American selection, she helped lead the Dukes to four straight appearances in the NCAA lacrosse tournament, including a final four appearance in 2000. Weiss earned a spot on the US Development Team in 1998.

After graduation from JMU in 2000, Julie came home to Philadelphia to be the assistant coach at La Salle before stepping into the head role for six seasons. While at La Salle, she also coached club lacrosse and most recently has earned her Level 3 Women’s Lacrosse Officiating certification.

Weiss has been involved with collegiate athletics in several different capacities. She currently serves as the Program Coordinator for Umentor, a mentoring program that connects student-athletes with alumni from their sport. Prior to joining Umentor, Julie served as a creative director and graphic designer for Front Rush for over ten years.

A native of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, Weiss was an All-Central Leauge, All-Delco and All-American selection in Field Hockey and lacrosse at Marple Newtown High School. She is a 3-time inductee into the Marple Newtown High School Hall of Fame.
