WORKS WITH: Volleyball, Softball, Men's Heavyweight Rowing
Jenna Ratka began working at the University of Pennsylvania in October of 2018. In her position, she serves as an Athletic Trainer with Penn’s Volleyball, Softball, and Men’s Heavyweight Rowing programs. She also oversees organization, scheduling, and data collection for research studies in collaboration with the Minds Matter Concussion Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as well as for the Ivy League-Big Ten Epidemiology of Concussions Study.
Ratka made the move to University City from North Broad Street, having spent the previous two academic years at Temple University where she earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a Concentration in Athletic Training. While at Temple, Ratka was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for undergraduate Anatomy and Physiology laboratories.
Born and raised in Rochester, N.Y., Ratka did her undergraduate work at the University of Pittsburgh, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training. As an undergrad, she worked rotations as an Athletic Training Student with Pitt’s football, baseball, and wrestling programs, Division III Chatham University, and Shaler Area High School. Ratka also spent a year with the Allegheny Health Network, assisting with practices and matches for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the United Soccer League (USL).
Ratka has been a National Athletic Trainer Association (NATA) member since 2014. She is Certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC) and is a Certified CPR and AED Health Care Provider by the American Red Cross.
