University of Pennsylvania Athletics

Cody Spence was hired as an equipment manager at the University of Pennsylvania in 2017 and was promoted to director of equipment operations in December 2022. Spence oversees all the equipment needs for Penn Athletics, and works directly with the Penn baseball, men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey, men’s and women’s cross country/track & field, and sprint football programs.
 
Spence came to University City from the University of Delaware, where he spent the 2016-17 academic year as an equipment intern working with the Blue Hens’ football, field hockey, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, and softball programs. Spence graduated from Delaware in 2016 with a degree in criminal justice and was a student manager during his undergrad years.
 
Spence earned his Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) certification in 2018.
