HECHT INDOOR TENNIS CENTER

At the Western edge of Penn Park, the Hecht Tennis Center serves as the indoor home to the Penn tennis programs. The center originally opened as the Robert P. Levy Tennis Pavilion – after former women’s tennis coach and Penn tennis Hall of famer, Robert Levy – in September of 1973 providing the University with four indoor, climate-controlled courts. Four additional courts were completed in May of 1978.

The building underwent substantial renovations in 2015, including improvements to insulation, installation of energy efficient lighting, and upgrades to team and recreational locker rooms. The Hecht Tennis center now holds eight glare-free Devoe illuminated courts with well-placed Plexi Pave surfaces. It also features seasonal air conditioning, allowing for year-round training, competition and recreational play. The mezzanine includes offices for coaches, while the spacious observation deck allows spectators to observe matches on the front four courts.
