COACH DAVE MICAHNIK FENCING CENTER

Dedicated in November 2013, the Coach David Micahnik Fencing Center is the home of the University of Pennsylvania men's and women's fencing programs. Located on the second floor of the Tse Sports Center, the Micahnik Fencing Center features 10,000 square feet of program facility and 14 fencing strips, each with its own unique electronic scoring system. The room features new lighting and Panelite windows, Mondo Flooring with inlaid reel boxes, and a display area for trophies and other historical artifacts. The Center also includes team rooms for both programs, an armory, and coaches' offices.

The Coach David Micahnik Fencing Center was named in honor of longtime men’s and women’s fencing coach Dave Micahnik. Micahnik retired in 2008 after 35 years overseeing both programs. He never had a losing season with either program, as the men went 343-105 during his tenure while the women went 379-105 for a combined mark of 722-210. The facility was part of a $27.2 million, 98,000-square-foot renovation of the existing Hutchinson Gymnasium. The project is certified as LEED Gold.
