DONALD E. FREY ATHLETIC TRAINING ROOM

As part of the George A. Weiss Pavilion inside Franklin Field, the University of Pennsylvania athletic department also unveiled the new, state-of-the-art Donald E. Frey Athletic Training Center in August 2010. Named after former University of Pennsylvania Wrestling Coach and Head Athletic Trainer, Don Frey, the Frey Training Room was donated by former Penn wrestling student-athlete , David Pottruck W'70, WG'72.

Located in the East concourse of Franklin Field, the 4,600-square-foot athletic training room boasts the latest in modality technology, hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, and rehabilitation equipment. Outfitted with two Polar Plunges, five Game ready machines, two Hivamat machines, light and laser therapy machines, and electrical stim and ultrasound machines, this room rivals any athletic training room in the country. With everything from the Penn Athletics logo inlayed on the floor upon entry into the room to custom designed treatment and taping tables embossed with the Penn logo, there is no doubt that the student-athletes will have a sense of great pride when being in this room.

There is a separate hydrotherapy room equipped with floor to ceiling glass, a non-slip resin floor, and two Polar Plunge whirlpools that could be switched to either hot or cold. An office suite with four work stations exists in the lower level as you enter the room, with space for the staff to perform their daily administrative duties.
