NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team wrapped up the 48th playing of the Macdonald Cup in ninth place out of 11 teams. The tournament was initially slated to be 54 holes, but after persistent rain in the New Haven area the field only completed the first round Friday.

The Red and Blue shot 27-over-par 307 in the sole round at Yale's Golf Course. Harvard finished first, concluding the weekend at 9-over-par 289. Seton Hall placed six shots behind the Crimson to take second with a 15-over-par 295, while Princeton rounded out the top three with a 16-over-par 296.

Junior Ryan Chang earned his first start of the campaign on Friday and ended his round as the Quakers' low scorer. The Brookline, Mass. native shot a 2-over-par 72 which left him tied for sixth place in a field of 68 competitors. Chang's sixth-place finish was his best since a top six finish at the Wildcat Fazio Invite (4/6-4/7) last spring. Sophomore Arjun Caprihan carded 6-over-par 76 and tied for 28th, while Oliver Uribe finished tied for 47th, shooting 9-over-par 79.

Hayden Adams (80, +10), Kayden Wang (81, +11) and Max Fonseca (84, +14, IND) were Penn's other players that competed.

Alex Zhang was the tournament's individual winner, finishing at 2-under-par 68 to claim the top spot. Seton Hall's Will Hennessee tied for second with Davis Sayman from Davidson at even par 70 while Theo Snyder from Yale and William Chang from Princeton finished 1-over-par 71 to tie for fourth.
