CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team heads to Charlottesville, Va., this weekend to open the season at the Orange and Blue Classic, with competition beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday.

Quaker Notemeal

*The Quakers open the 2026-27 season after a historic 2025-26 campaign that saw Penn reach the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in program history, joining the 2022 squad as the only two teams to earn an NCAA Tournament berth.

*Penn finished last season with an 18-10 overall record and a 4-3 mark in Ivy play, including a dominant 13-1 record at the Hamlin/Hecht Tennis Centers.

*The Quakers return eight players from last year's roster, including senior Manfredi Graziani and junior Aaron Sandler, who formed one of the most successful doubles tandems in program history.

*Graziani and Sandler made history last fall by becoming the first doubles tandem in program history to earn ITA Doubles All-American honors. The duo also finished the dual-match regular season with a perfect 20-0 record and went 32-3 overall.

*The All-American duo reached as high as No. 2 in the ITA National Doubles Rankings and was unanimously voted First-Team All-Ivy in doubles following the season.

*Head coach Rich Bonfiglio was named the ITA Northeast Regional Coach of the Year after leading the Quakers to their second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. He returns for his fifth season of the Quakers' men's tennis team.

*Bonfiglio led the Quakers to a program-best 28 wins last season

*Penn reached No. 28 in the ITA rankings last season, marking the second-highest ranking in program history.
