PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Penn State and Stanford volleyball teams – two of the country's top programs – are set to square off the Historic Palestra on Friday, September 11. The match will be hosted in celebration of the 100^th Anniversary of the Palestra.
 
This will be the 28^th overall meeting between the two programs and the first since the 2022 season. Stanford currently leads the series, 14-13. The teams rank first and second all-time in national titles. The Cardinal have nine and the Nittany Lions follow with eight.
 
"I am incredibly excited for our team and for the sport of volleyball to have the opportunity to compete in such a historic venue. Celebrating 100 years, The Palestra has been the home to countless unforgettable moments in college athletics, and it is truly one of the most iconic arenas in the country," said Penn State Head Coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley. "The University of Pennsylvania is also a place that holds special meaning for me, so having the opportunity to return to Philadelphia and compete there makes this event special."
 
Penn State will visit the Palestra for just the second time in program history. Head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley, however, is no stranger to the historic venue. She called the Palestra home as head coach of the Penn Volleyball team during the 2017 season.
 
"We are thrilled to be resuming our rivalry with Penn State and are honored to share the court with the Nittany Lions in celebration of 100 years of the Palestra.," said Stanford Head Coach Kevin Hambley.
 
This will be Stanford's first known visit to the Palestra and serve as the centerpiece to the team's east coast road trip that week.
