Top Three Boats Sweep The Day For Lightweights at NCLI

LEONIA, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania men's lightweight crews had a successful day at the National Collegiate Lightweight Invitational on Saturday, with the top three Eights all winning both of their races at Overpeck Park.

Varsity Eight
Penn swept both of its races, defeating MIT and Dartmouth in the morning session and downing Mercyhurst in the afternoon.

Second Varsity Eight
Penn earned wins in a pair of three-boat races on Saturday, beating Dartmouth and MIT in the morning and

Third Varsity Eight
Penn had a strong day in this boat, as well, beating MIT in the morning and Princeton and Navy in the afternoon.

Fourth Varsity Eight
This boat raced Navy and Princeton twice on Saturday, finishing third in both races.

Up Next
Penn is on the road to Ithaca next Saturday, racing Harvard and host Cornell. The Matthews Trophy (Varsity Eights race) and Leonard Cup (overall points) will be in play in the racing with the Big Red, while the Franklin Trophy will be on the line in the Varsity Eights race between the Quakers and the Crimson.
