PRINCETON, N.J. — The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team advanced to the championship match of the ECAC Indoor Championship by defeating Columbia on Saturday, 4-3.
The Lions took two out of three doubles as the Quakers had their backs against the wall heading into singles.
Esha Velaga secured the first win of the day for the Red and Blue in the one position, defeating Malak El Allami in two sets.
Lara Stojanovski added another win for the Quakers in two sets, defeating Sophia Wang in the third position.
Joleen Saw gutted out a three set win over Emily Baek as Penn tied the match, 3-3.
Once again, freshman
Varsha Vedula was heroic for the Quakers as she came up clutch with a match clinching win for the Quakers.
Penn will take on #5 Yale in the championship match tomorrow beginning at 2 p.m.
