Women's Tennis to Compete in ECAC Indoor Championship This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team will compete in the ECAC (Eastern College Atlantic Conference Indoor Championship) this weekend held in Princeton, N.J. The Quakers are ranked as the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will take on Dartmouth in the first match on Friday at 5 p.m. All other eight Ivy League teams will also be competing in the tournament.

* Penn dropped two out of three doubles matches against Drexel on Saturday, but won all singles matches en route to a 6-1 win, bringing their season record to 3-2.

* The lone doubles victory was by Lara Stojanovski and Varsha Vedula. Both players also had singles victories, Stojanovski winning in two sets.

* Maya Urata and Joleen Saw also won their singles matches in two sets.

* Other singles victories include Liza Tkachenko and Esha Velaga who took their matches in three sets.
