Coyne Claims Ivy League Co-Pitcher of the Week Laurels to Open 2026 Campaign

PHILADELPHIA,  - Junior left-handed pitcher Marty Coyne was named Ivy League Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the conference office announced.

Coyne got the start on the mound in the Quakers' second game of a three-game series at then-No. 24 Texas A&M. The Hockessin, Del. native delivered a career performance on Saturday (2/21) against the Aggies, recording a career-high nine strikeouts in five innings of work.

He faced 21 batters in his 2026 debut and allowed only four hits and one walk against a nationally ranked Texas A&M team that had five batters hitting over .400 entering the weekend. Penn took the hosts to extra innings in game two and Coyne was responsible for frustrating the Aggies' lineup early on.

The Red and Blue continue non-conference action down south this weekend for a three-game series at Mercer. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
