Men’s Tennis Continues Fall Schedule at Saint Joseph’s Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team continues its fall schedule this weekend, competing at the Saint Joseph's Invitational from Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Saint Joseph's Tennis Complex. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association-sanctioned event features players from 11 schools, with competition beginning Friday morning and continuing through Sunday.

Schedule:

Friday, Oct. 2: Doubles begins at 9 a.m., followed by singles beginning at 10 a.m.

Saturday, Oct. 3: Competition continues throughout the day, with doubles beginning at 9 a.m. and singles beginning at 10 a.m.

Sunday, Oct. 4: Final rounds begin at 9 a.m.

Quakers participating: Adam Bain, Parashar Bharadwaj, Sebastian Chodura and Jonah Chernett.

Friday's Penn Schedule:

Doubles – 9 a.m.

Singles
*10 a.m.: Adam Bain vs. Santiago Valle (Saint Joseph's)

*11 a.m.: Parashar Bharadwaj vs. Riccardo Campagnola (NJIT)

*11 a.m.: Sebastian Chodura vs. Luke Tollenaar (Delaware)

The Saint Joseph's Invitational is an ITA-sanctioned event featuring players from Saint Joseph's, Penn, Delaware, Drexel, Jefferson, Lafayette, NJIT, Nova, Temple, Swarthmore and Johns Hopkins.

*Penn is coming off a strong showing at the ITA All-American Championships, highlighted by Shaurya Bharadwaj and Vojtech Vales' run to the main-draw consolation semifinals in doubles.

*Bharadwaj earned four singles victories at the All-American Championships, including two against ranked opponents.

*Bharadwaj and Vales combined for six doubles victories, including four against ranked opponents and a top-10 win over No. 7 Romain Gales and Bruno Kuzuhara of Clemson.

*The duo finished one match shy of qualifying for the NCAA Doubles Championships.

*Vales also picked up a singles victory at the All-American Championships, while Luka Butera and Callum Markowitz each earned a singles win.

*Aaron Sandler and Zaid Al Mashni earned a doubles victory during pre-qualifying at the All-American Championships.

*At the Orange and Blue Classic earlier this fall, Nischal Spurling posted two singles victories and a doubles win with Parashar Bharadwaj, while Adam Bain earned two singles victories and a doubles win with Sebastian Chodura.
