Women's Tennis Heads to Ann Arbor, Mich. For ITA Kick-Off

PHILADEPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania's women's tennis team leaves for Ann Arbor Michigan to compete in the ITA Kick-Off against Michigan on Saturday and either Notre Dame or Vanderbilt on Sunday. The team is coming off strong opening matches, defeating both Villanova and Saint Joseph's, 4-0, on Monday in a doubleheader.  
 
Quaker Notemeal 
Penn won all singles matches and all, but one doubles match against Saint Joseph's in the season opener. 
 
The doubles pairing of Esha Velaga and Maya Urata won both matches against Villanova and Saint Joseph's. Velaga secured another doubles victory teamed up with Lara Stojanovski against the Hawks. Liza Tkachenko and Joleen Saw also won a doubles match against the Wildcats. 
 
* Velaga also saw success in singles, winning both of her matches in the first position. Velaga is currently ranked #89 in the ITA singles rankings. Teammate Stojanovski also produced similar results, winning two matches in the second position. Freshman Vedula also recorded two singles victories, the first of her Quaker career.
