PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team will kick off their 2026 spring season this Monday, when they will host Villanova and Saint Joseph's in a doubleheader at the Hecht Tennis Center. The Quakers will look to build on a successful 2024-25 season in which they went 12-9, including a 4-2 record against Ivy League rivals. The Quakers are once again led by head coach
Sanela Kunovac, who is in her 17th year with the program.

* The Quakers comparably opened the 2025 spring season against Villanova, defeating the Wildcats 7-0.
* Junior
Esha Velaga enters the spring as the 89th ranked women's singles player according to Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) fall rankings. Velaga is coming off a fall in which she punched a ticket to the NCAA Singles Championships.
*Velaga won the ITA Northeast Regional for the second time in three years. Penn alum
Sabine Rutlauka was the winner last season, making it three seasons in a row that a Quaker has been crowned the singles champion of the region.
* Freshmen Jo-Leen Saw and
Varsha Vedula will aim to continue the success they enjoyed in their first semester in University City, combining for a 14-8 record.
