Austen Earns Ivy League’s Defensive POTW in Women's Soccer

Annabel Austen earns first Defensive Player of the Week this season.

PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League has released its weekly awards for women's soccer, with University of Pennsylvania goalkeeper Annabel Austen earning Defensive Player of the Week.

A senior, Austen earns her fourth career Defensive Player of the Week honor, with the other three coming in 2024. The first team All-Ivy netminder led Penn to two shutout victories this past week, with five saves vs. Drexel and two saves vs. George Mason. These performances have guided Penn to its best start since 2021 and first start with three straight shutouts since the 2013 team began its campaign with five straight clean sheets.

Austen is already only one shutout shy of tying her tally from 2024, so her follow-up to last year's stellar season is off to fantastic start. She will look to keep it going Thursday at 6 p.m. as the Quakers make their first road trip of 2025 to take on FDU.
