Women's Rowing Ready For NCAA Racing This Weekend in New Jersey

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team is ready for the NCAA Championships, which will take place this Friday through Sunday on Mercer Lake in nearby West Windsor, N.J. This will be the Quakers' fourth straight appearance in the national championship event.

"NCAAs is the culmination of our season and the race we've been pointing towards since placing tenth at last year's Championships," said Penn's first-year head coach, Bill Manning. "The athletes have done the training, improved, supported and challenged one another and now it's time to enjoy the racing. As always, we aim to beat our seed by improving with each race and doing our best racing on the biggest stage."

Penn finished tenth as a team at last year's NCAA Championships, scoring 77 points as two boats (the Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four) bettered their pre-race seeds. This year, all three of the Quakers' boats are seeded 15th in their respective 22-boat fields and all three will row Friday morning. The goal? Finish in the top three, which would qualify the boat for Saturday's A/B semifinal and guarantee them a top-12 finish on the weekend.

Friday's races are set to take place from 9:48 a.m. until noon. The A/B/C/D semifinals are scheduled on Saturday from 8:12-10:24 a.m. and the finals are slated for 8:12-10:24 a.m. on Sunday.
