PRINCETON, N.J. – The 12th-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team fell in five races to seventh-ranked Brown Saturday on Lake Carnegie. The best race came in the Varsity Eights, where the Bears were able to beat the Quakers by a little less than five seconds. The crews were separated by about seven seconds in the Second Varsity Eights race.

"The athletes responded well to the challenge of racing #7 Brown," said Penn's head coach,
Bill Manning. "This was our best performance thus far this season—we lost, but closed the gap compared to our results at NCAAs last year. I'm pleased with our progress and the fight we put up, each week the team has learned and improved by racing top teams.
"We are excited for the upcoming Big 10 Invite in Sarasota, Florida," he continued. "It will give us yet another chance to test ourselves against more top teams from all across the country. Racing a schedule as ambitious and challenging as ours should prepare and position us well for the Ivy League Championships and ideally NCAAs."
