Softball Concludes the 2025 Season

PHILADELPHIA— The University of Pennsylvania softball team closed out their 2025 campaign against the Princeton Tigers earlier this afternoon at Penn Park.

Penn fell in six innings to Princeton, who clinched a portion of the Ivy League title with the 10-2 win. With the result, the Quakers completed their season with a 3-35-1 overall record, going 1-20 in conference play.

Ahead of the game, the team recognized its seniors- Abbie Stellrecht, Payton Bean, Madison Bauerle, and Rachel Riley- wishing them well on their future endeavors.

Final: Princeton 10, Penn 2 (after 6 innings)
After a scoreless first inning for both teams, Princeton threw the first punch in the second inning, putting six runs on the board. The first run came from an RBI single by Lauren Pappert that allowed Allison Ha to cross the plate. Runs two and three, represented by Allie Goodwin and Pappert respectively, came courtesy of an RBI single from Sonia Zhang. Karis Ford cleared the bases with a three-run shot to double the score, leaving Penn trailing 6-0 at the end of the second inning.

Ford was credited with her fourth RBI of the day when she sent a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Pappert to cross the plate for the second time and bringing the score to 7-0 in Princeton's favor. The Quakers loaded the bases in the fifth inning, bringing in their first run after Maia Hartley worked a walk to force in Jade Montgomery. Alexis Youngren took one for the team not long after, getting hit by a pitch to force Ella Utschig in for the Red and Blue's second run. The Tigers put the game away in the sixth inning, Julia Dumais hitting her fifth home run of the season to clear the bases, tallying three more runs for Princeton to secure the win and a portion of the Ivy League title.
