#1 Men's Squash Sweeps #4 Trinity in the Semifinals; Will Face #3 Yale Tomorrow

PHILADELPHIA— The top-ranked University of Pennsylvania men's squash team swept No. 4 Trinity earlier this evening to secure a spot in the Potter Cup final match tomorrow.

The tone was set early as the first shift took the courts. Zane Patel, coming into this match off a loss yesterday, bounced back in a big way by winning his match in three straight games to give Penn the first point of the afternoon. Nick Spizzirri, playing on the center exhibition court, finished just seven minutes later with a three-game win of his own, doubling the lead. Dana Santry rounded out the first shift with a 15-point third game to sweep Daniel Simon and add the third point for the Red and Blue.

The second shift picked up where the first left off, with the fourth point coming from a dominant three-game win from Varun Chitturi. Emotions ran high, the Quakers holding their breath as Nathan Kueh and Salman Khalil battled their opponents, each pushing their match to a fifth game. Falling behind after three games, Khalil fought through extra points in game four to keep the match alive on the exhibition court. Meanwhile, Kueh alternated wins with Huzaifa Ibrahim, winning game four after thirteen points to force game five. After 67 minutes and five games of play, Khalil secured the match win for Penn to send them to the Potter Cup final for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The crowd migrated from the exhibition court to watch Kueh in his dual. After 73 minutes of play, Kueh kept his undefeated streak intact, winning the fifth game 15-13. He raced around the court, running up the court wall in celebration, clearing the serve line.

The third wave, starting with captain Abdelrahman Dweek in the front corner court, continued the dominance the team had shown the entire match. Dweek earned the seventh point for the team with his four-game win, embracing his father as soon as he stepped off the court. Omar Hafez stepped into the glass of the exhibition court, making quick work of Low Wa-Sern to earn his fiftieth career win and keep the team's sweep intact. Freshman Marwan Abdelsalam rounded out the evening for the Quakers, maintaining his unbeaten streak in team competition and the statement sweep for Penn.
