PHILADELPHIA – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team dropped a close ranked battle at Franklin Field on Wednesday afternoon, falling in overtime to #7 Florida, 13-12.
Keeley Block led Penn in the ranked outing, tallying five points against the Gators.

How It Happened
Senior Brandt gave the Quakers an early lead, scoring in the first 42 seconds, assisted by
Paige Lipman. The Gators rose to the challenge, as Kaitlyn Davies scored Florida's first goal at the 9:48 mark. Florida took the lead less than halfway through the first quarter, as Gabby Greene and Jordan Basso netted two shots. Seniors Block and Brandt fought back to tie the game at three to close out the first.
Block opened the second quarter scoring, pushing through defenders to score at the 13:51 mark to give Penn a 4-3 lead. Both teams were silent for almost the rest of the half until Florida's Giana Monaco scored another goal to round out the half 4-4.
The Gators' Monaco fired off a shot coming out of halftime to give Florida a 5-4 lead. Block and Brandt answered right back with goals of their own in the 12th minute to push Penn ahead 6-5. Sophomore Berkery made a large push for Penn's lead, scoring two goals at the 11:20 and 8:52 mark to extend the game to 8-5. The Gators returned three of their own, with a goal from Davies and two from Frankie Hahn to tie the game 8-8.
Gracie Smith started the fourth quarter, netting one past goalkeeper Elyse Finnelle. At the 8:22 mark, freshman Greene scored to lengthen Penn's lead to 10-8. Two minutes later, the Gators' Gabby Greene added another to the board to cut the hole to a goal. Florida's Davies netted two shots to give Florida the 11-10 lead heading into the final minutes. Midfielder Brandt prevailed, scoring her fourth of the day to tie the game at 11 with less than two minutes left of regulation.
Sophomore Berkery gave Penn the lead with 43 seconds left on the player-up advantage, but Florida retaliated to force overtime at 12. Both defenses were on high alert for most of the extra period, but Florida's Monaco found the back of the net with five seconds left to push the Gators to victory at 13-12.
