DURHAM, N.C. – The 14th-ranked University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse team never trailed in the first half of Sunday's game at No. 5 Duke and took a lead into the locker room at halftime. However, the Blue Devils charged out in the second half, outscoring the Quakers 6-0 in the third quarter and holding their guests to just one second-half goal in taking an 11-6 decision.

Penn comes back from Tobacco Road with a 2-3 overall record, while Duke is 5-1.

How It Happened
Penn went out in front with the first two goals of the game, Rubin scoring a little more than four minutes in and Lucchesi following up less than a minute later. Duke got one of those back before the end of the period, then tied it a little less than three minutes into the second, but Mulligan put Penn back in front less than two minutes later. Six minutes after that, Scane got on the board and the Quakers were doubling up the fifth-ranked Blue Devils. Duke again got level, Eric Malever scoring unassisted and Andrew McAdorey finishing a Benn Johnston feed, but with just 21 seconds left Hoffman took a feed from Provost on the left side and beat Duke's keeper to the near post. That gave Penn a 5-4 lead at the break. Johnston tied things up just 34 seconds into the third quarter, and then he gave Duke its first lead of the day off a Chris Cusolito feed with 10:53 left in the period. That started what turned out to be the decisive sequence, as the Blue Devils tacked on three more goals across the game's next 3:43. Luke Grayum added his second of the day three minutes after that, and by the time the quarter ended Duke's lead was 10-5.

Mac Christmas added to Duke's lead a little more than two minutes into the fourth, and while Duke was shut down the rest of the way Penn was unable to respond. Rubin finally netted his second of the day with 4:36 left in the period, but that turned out to be the Quakers' only tally of the second half.
