CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team wrapped up their excellent February at No. 23 North Carolina, scoring a 195.075.
The Quakers finished behind the meet-host Tar Heels (196.675) and their Philadelphia neighbors Temple (195.375). Penn did place ahead of Ivy foe Yale (193.050).
BEAM – Penn 48.700
The Red and Blue started strong on the balance beam, recording their second-highest season score on the apparatus.
Mimi Fletcher led the Quakers with a 9.850, making it the fifth time this season the freshman has reached that mark.
Samantha Wu was right behind her at 9.800.
Jordan Barrow and
Skyelar Kerico each notched 9.725's and
Alisha Werlen had a score of 9.600.
FLOOR – Penn 48.350
Kerico led the Quakers with a score of 9.775.
Emma Davies and
Marissa Lassiter both recorded a 9.675.
Manama Fofana finished at 9.650.
Zara Gazdak rounded out the group, scoring a 9.575.
VAULT – Penn 48.975
Penn bounced back with its best season score on the vault. Coming off back-to-back Ivy Classic vault titles, Barrow once again stood out at 9.850. Fofana replicated that mark. Kerico score a 9.800. Lassiter notched a 9.750. In her first meet competing on vault since 2023, Werlen scored a 9.725.
Olivia VanHorn finished with a score of 9.700.
BARS – Penn 49.050
Saving the best for last is always a good idea and the Quakers did exactly that on the bars. Lassiter set the tone with a 9.750. Penn followed that with four straight 9.8's or better. Fletcher recorded a 9.825 in her first collegiate bars routine. Barrow finished her great night with a score of 9.800.
Sophia Paris recorded a season-high 9.850. Gazdak notched a 9.825.
Rotation Notes
*Barrow and Fofana split the vault title with Temple's Nikki Rengifo at 9.850. Barrow has either won outright or tied for first place on vault in four of the last five meets. Tonight was Fofana's first vault title.
*Fletcher finished fourth on the balance beam. The freshman has placed fifth or better on the apparatus in every meet she's competed in (7).
*Paris's season-high score of 9.850 on the uneven bars slotted in as fifth best among all gymnasts at the meet.
*Penn's streak of four straight meets with a win has been snapped. Although, the Quakers have now recorded a team score of 195 or better in the last three meets.
*The Red and Blue set a new season-high team score on the vault at 48.975. It's the fourth-best event score in program history.
*With their 49.050 on the bars, the Quakers now have notched a 49 or better team score in an apparatus five times this season. The 49.050 is the fifth-best bars score all-time.
*The Quakers wrapped up their regular season competition against Ivy schools with a perfect 7-0 record.
