PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League announced the Athletes of the Week on Tuesday, with
Jake Rose and
Jessica Oji earning the men's and women's awards in record breaking style.
Women's Athlete of the Week
Freshman
Jessica Oji sits first in the NCAA women's shot put after five attempts over 16.60m, recording a personal-best sixth round mark of 17.72m (58' 1.75"). Oji broke the school record three times during the Penn Opener with her final put breaking the Ivy League indoor record previously held by Nikki Okwelogu (2015) at 17.22m (56' 6").
Co-Men's Athlete of the Week
Jake Rose dominated the men's heptathlon winning six of the seven events recording a school record total of 5647 points. Rose recorded personal-best marks in the long jump (7.12m (23' 4.5")) and high jump (1.92m (6' 3.5")). He currently sits fourth in the NCAA and first in the Ivy League.
