PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team opens its 2025-26 season on Sunday, Nov. 9, heading to Bethlehem, Pa., for the Journeymen Collegiate Classic at Freedom High School.

The Field
Appalachian State, Army, Binghamton, Bloomsburg, Clarion, Columbia, Duke, F&M, Harvard, Hofstra, Indiana, Lehigh, Lock Haven, LIU, Maryland, Navy, Northern Iowa, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, and Virginia will join the Quakers at Freedom High School for the tournament.

*At the 2024 Journeymen Classic, Nick Incontrera dominated the 174 bracket, earning first place and a hammer award at his weight.
 
*The Red and Blue return two NCAA qualifiers in Cross Wasilewski (149) and Jude Swisher (157).  At the 2025 Ivy League Championships, Wasilewski won the 149 crown, while Swisher was runner-up at 157.
 
*Junior Swisher and sophomore Wasilewski are ranked in the FloWrestling and Intermat top-20 of their weights, with Wasilewski sitting at #5 at 149 and Swisher at #12 at 157.
 
*Some fresh faces will be hitting the mat this season as freshmen Caden Bellis (165), Liam Carlin (174), Deven Casey (133), Brian Heard (174), Greyson Meak (184), Davis Motyka (125), Isaias Rodriguez-Jimenez (165), Wyatt Stout (157), and Nathan Taylor (141) joined the team this season.
 
*The Quakers also have new and returning faces on the coaching staff, as Penn wrestling alum Matt Valenti C'07 takes the helm for his first season as head coach for the program. NCAA All-American Lennox Wolak joins Valenti, Olympian Darian Cruz, and head coach emeritus Roger Reina on the sidelines this season.
