Quaker Notemeal
The No. 1 ranked Quakers had a very successful opening weekend of the season, sweeping all four of their opponents. Freshmen Henry Fogel, Phillip Dartnell and Will Newman all earned their first collegiate victories against Haverford on Friday night. Freshman Alexander Dartnell secured his first win as a Quaker against Franklin and Marshall on Saturday. St. Lawrence transfer Gregory Malsang won his first game donning the red and blue against Dickinson on Sunday. With the four wins over Haverford, F&M, Chatham and Dickinson, the men's team is undefeated in its last 27 matches dating back to 2023.
Previewing the Cavaliers
Virginia has opened the season with a 5-0 record, most recently defeating #4 Yale on Sunday. This was the program's third-ever top five win against a top-five ranked opponent. Senior JP Tew has been impressive for the Cavaliers to start the season, winning each of his five matches in the two and three positions. Junior Krishna Mishra is also undefeated in his first four matches playing at positions four and five. Freshman Juan Irisarri has a 4-0 record at the top position of the lineup. Penn is a perfect 7-0 against Virginia all-time, winning in Charlottesville last year, 8-1.
