Marissa Lassiter and freshman
Manama Fofana of the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team received two of the three Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) weekly honors, announced on Wednesday morning by the conference office.
GEC Week 4 Awards (1.29.25)
Lassiter picked up Gymnast of the Week following her performance at the Lindsey Ferris Invite where she set new career-bests on the vault (9.850) and in the all-around (39.025). She earned two top five finishes – third on vault and fourth on the uneven bars (9.750) – while securing another eighth-place finish on the floor (9.825).
It's Lassiter's first GEC Gymnast of the Week award and her third weekly conference recognition overall. She was named GEC Newcomer of the Year twice in the 2023 season.
Fofana earned Newcomer of the Week after shining on the vault and floor exercise. She posted a 9.825 on vault en route to a fourth-place finish and posted the same mark on the floor to place eighth.
The Quakers will travel to Upstate New York to take on Cornell in their first dual meet of the season.
