PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania squash teams swept Columbia on Friday at the Penn Squash Center, the Quakers earning a pair of 9-0 victories over the Lions.
The top-ranked Penn men remain unbeaten at 12-0 and are now 2-0 in Ivy League play. The fourth-ranked women also are 2-0 in Ivy play and move to 9-1 overall.
History was made on the men's side as senior
Nathan Kueh—playing at No. 5 on the ladder—earned his program-record 60th collegiate win for the Red and Blue with an 11-7, 11-3, 11-3 decision. Kueh is now 10-0 on the season and 60-9 all-time at Penn, surpassing Yash Bhargava as the program's all-time leader in wins.
Kueh won in straight games, as did all of his teammates with the exception of
Marwan Abdelsalam who split his first two games but eked out 11-8 and 13-11 wins in Games 3 and 4 to earn his 3-1 victory.
The women needed less than two hours to knock off the Lions on Friday, winning six of their nine matches in straight games. The only three who were extended past the minimum were Malak Khafagy at No. 1, Allie Stoddard at No. 5 and Natasha Pensler at No. 9 as all three of them lost Game 3 before closing things out in Game 4.
