PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team got a spectacular goal from freshman
Mila Maltby, but it wasn't enough as the Quakers could not come all the way back from a two-goal deficit and dropped a 2-1 final to Drexel Sunday evening at the Dragons' Vidas Field.
The Red and Blue are now 0-2-0 on the young season while the host Dragons improved to 1-2-0.

How it Happened
The Dragons produced multiple shots over the first 15 minutes of game action, while a strong Penn defensive effort saw Leschly and Zulli deflect several shots from the Dragon offensive attack. At the other end, Penn recorded early shots by way of sophomores Cook and Capdevila.
Drexel's Liv Brocious scored just past the quarter hour of play, heading home a cross from Casey Touey for a 1-0 Dragons advantage.
Brocious doubled DU's lead with her second of the night almost exactly on the hour (60:08). Austen made an initial save on a shot by Touey, but she could not secure the ball and Brocious was there to pick up the rebound for the easy conversion.
Maltby scored Penn's first goal of the season in the 72nd minute in spectacular fashion. Taking a pass from
Abbey Cook in the middle of the pitch, the freshman took a touch to set herself and then rocketed a shot from about 30 yard out that sailed past a diving Drexel goalkeeper and tucked into the upper right corner.
That seemed to give the Quakers life, but they could not turn it into an equalizer as Drexel was able to see out the victory on its home field.
