PHILADELPHIA – It's almost time to get back on the courts! The University of Pennsylvania squash coaches
Jack Wyant and
Gilly Lane C'07 announced the 2024-25 men's and women's squash schedules on Friday morning.
"We are extremely excited for the 2024-2025 season," said Lane, who pilots the men's program. "We are welcoming three new players to the team and look forward to competing against the best teams in the nation. Each team has improved their squads, and we have some tough contests for the team early in the season. We are looking forward to competing at a high level in league play and representing our great university."
"There are many schedule highlights worth noting," said Wyant, who serves as the Director of Squash and coaches the Penn women. "It is balanced, with top ten teams such as Stanford and UVA in the first semester plus the League, Trinity, and Drexel matches in 2025!
"For the first time, the Individual Championships will be held in New York City in conjunction with the Tournament of Champions PSA event. Semis and finals will be played at Grand Central, on the glass court in Vanderbilt Hall! The season concludes in Philly with team championships at the Specter Center."
The 2024-25 campaign kicks off the Ivy League Scrimmages the weekend of November 2-3, followed by the Pennsylvania State Championships opener at Franklin and Marshall on Nov. 15. Penn helps host the PA Championships Nov. 16-17, with Haverford, Dickinson, Drexel, and Chatham spread throughout the two days.
The Quakers head to the DMV with the women battling Georgetown (Nov. 22) at Squash on Fire in Washington, D.C., followed by a match against Virginia for both programs on Nov. 23.
The men stay on the road to open December action with a trio of matches in New York against St. Lawrence (Dec. 7), Rochester (Dec. 7), and Western (Dec. 8). Both programs ring in the New Year in University City against Trinity (Jan. 11) trailed by the Ivy League opener against the Bulldogs on Jan. 12. The Red and Blue stay at home to fight Columbia (Jan. 17) and Cornell (Jan.11) before heading to the Big Apple for the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships Jan. 25-28.
Penn returns to Ivy bouts with a New England trip to Harvard (Feb. 1) and Dartmouth (Feb. 2) to open February play. The home matches conclude with a pair of matches against Stanford (Feb. 6) for the women and Princeton for both teams on Feb. 9. The regular season wraps up with a University City match at Drexel on Feb. 20.
The quest for the Potter and Howe Cups commences at the Arlen Specter Squash Center at the Drexel campus March 6-9, with the men fighting for their second-straight CSA National Championship.
