PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's track & field programs will be well represented this week at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, with 11 athletes competing across eight events. The Championships will run Wednesday through Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Penn has three men competing on the weekend, senior
Scott Toney and junior
James Rhoads in the pole vault and freshman
Ryan Matulonis in the 400 hurdles. All three will be in action on Wednesday, with Matulonis hoping to advance to Friday's final in his event.
On Thursday and Saturday, three women will compete in individual events: senior
Isabella Whittaker in the 400, senior
Olivia Morganti in the steeplechase, and
Lily Murphy in both the 10K (Thursday final) and 5K (Saturday final). The Quakers also have teams qualified in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Whittaker, Morganti and the relays will run in semifinals on Thursday with the goal of qualifying for finals on Saturday.
