Men's Squash Welcomes Class of 2028 Recruits

PHILADELPHIA- Fresh off a 2024 national championship, the University of Pennsylvania men's squash team, led by Head Coach Gilly Lane C' 07, are excited to announce the incoming recruits for the 2024-25 season. Three young men – Zane Patel, Marwan Tamer, and Rustin Wiser will join the team as freshmen.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Zane, Rustin and Marwan to the Penn Squash family," said Lane. "These three players embody everything it means to play for Penn, and we cannot wait for them to make an immediate impact on the program as freshmen. All three players will compete for their country this summer at the world junior championships and bring an elite level of talent to a team returning its entire roster from last year."

Palo Alto, Calif. | Saint Francis

High School: Participated in the US Squash National Circuit under coach Charlie Johnson since 2015… Represented Team USA at the World Championships in 2018 and in 2022-24 … National Champion (boys' U-17) 2022 … German Open Champion (boy's U-17) 2022 … Dutch Open Runner Up 2022 … US Open 3rd place 2022 & 2023 … US ranking of No. 1 (boys' U-15/U-17) … US ranking of No. 1 (boys' U-19) … Member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

Personal: Son of Roxanne and Sameer Patel … Enrolled in the Wharton School of Business.

Marwan Tamer
Alexandria, Egypt | Riyada Language School

High School: Current (boys' U-19) Egyptian National Champion … Will be representing Egypt this summer at the world team championships in Houston … Reached a ranking of No. 2 in Egypt.

Personal: Son of Nagwan and Saad.

Rustin Wiser
Bronxville, N.Y. | The Bronxville School

High School: Varsity squash captain … US Squash Scholar Athlete … High School Squash All-American 2023-24 … 2024 National Champion … 2022 Arlen Specter Junior Champion … 2022 Frank Millet Junior Championship Winner … National ranking of No. 3 … Participated in lacrosse, baseball, basketball and rugby throughout high school … Le Grand Concours Bronze Medalist.

Personal: Son of Amy and Philip Wiser … Enrolled in the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
