How It Happened
The Bulldogs controlled the pace of the game from the start, scoring two goals within the first five minutes to lead.

Sophomore Scane opened the scoring for the Quakers at the 8:25 mark off a pass from DiNola to cut the lead. Four minutes later, Shipley dodged and charged down the field to tie the game at two.

Yale closed out the first quarter with back-to-back goals to push the Bulldogs ahead 4-2 after the first 15 minutes.

The Red and Blue caught a spark to open the second, scoring three unanswered goals to lead for the first and only time in the game. Senior Shipley scored his second of the half four minutes in to shorten the lead to a goal. Junior Kumar accepted a feed from Scane with 8:03 on the clock to knot the battle at four on a man-up opportunity. Smith broke the tie and pushed the Quakers ahead at 5-4 with six minutes left of the second to round out the run.

Unfortunately for Penn, Yale closed out the first half with four goals from Matt Brandau and Max Krevsky to lead 8-5 heading into halftime.

Both teams were relatively quiet coming out of the break, exchanging two goals each to put the deficit at 10-7 to end the quarter. Senior Rubin opened the scoring 35 seconds into the third and scored again with four minutes left on the man-up to account for Penn's goals and his team-leading 21st and 22nd goals of the campaign.

The Bulldogs opened the final quarter hot, with a pair of tallies to lead by five with 11:32 left of the fourth. The Quakers tried to rally a comeback off the faceoff as Chris Arceri hustled down the field to pass to Smith, who tossed it to DiNola to account for his first goal of the game to disrupt Yale's run.

With a little over six minutes left and feeling the pressure, keeper Carroll launched the ball to defenseman Kuehl, who nailed one at Yale's keeper Jared Paquette to score Penn's first defender goal of the season and the first of his career.

Ultimately, Yale's defense battled hard in the final six minutes to halt a Red and Blue comeback to keep the score at its final tally of 12-9.
