Prairie View, Texas – The University of Pennsylvania softball team dropped its third straight game, with a 7-6 loss to Prairie View A&M on Wednesday afternoon.
The Quakers went run-for-run, in a back-and-forth game with the Panthers, as ultimately Prairie View A&M walked it off in the bottom of the seventh, as a double to left field scored the game-winning run.

Penn and Prairie View A&M were held scoreless throughout the first frame, as the Panthers scored first in the bottom of the second. Biviana Figueroa led off with a single and then stole second. She was brought in by Aerin Talley who launched her team-leading fourth homerun of the year over the center field wall, making the score 2-0.
In the top of the third,
Delaney Smith and
Sammy Fenton reached safely with back-to-back singles, and Smith was driven in as
Dana Anderson doubled to right center. The Quakers flipped a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead when
Katie Reagan singled to left, scoring both Fenton and Anderson. The Red and Blue added two more runs when
Chloe Lesko hit her first collegiate home run over the centerfield wall, making the game 5-2.
In the bottom half of the third, a leadoff walk followed by a single, prompted a pitching change, as freshman starter,
Ella Utschig exited with no outs in the bottom of the third.
Rachel Riley then gave up a bunt single to load the bases. A single to the left side brought in a run and was followed by a sac fly to left field, which brought the game to a 5-4 score at the end of the third.
Penn loaded the bases in the top of the fifth with a single, an error by Prairie View A&M and a walk. The Quakers made it a 6-4 game as
Megan Huang knocked in Anderson with a single that dropped in front of the Panthers' centerfielder. Prairie View A&M tied the game in the bottom of the inning, with a triple, a double, a single and a double steal of second base and home.
The scoring from both sides was halted until the bottom of the seventh, as Jaylyn Davis reached safely via a walk, and moved into scoring position on a Figueroa single. Hannah Garza drove in the game-winning run on a double to right field, as the ball dropped just wide of
Julia Mortimer's diving attempt, scoring the runner at second base, ending the game 7-6.

- Anderson, Reagan and Lesko each had a pair of hits for the Quakers.
- Lesko's first career home run in the top of the third, puts her at seven RBIs this season, two behind Reagan's nine for the team lead.
- Reagan and Lesko combined for four of Penn's six RBIs.
- Anderson scored twice, to go along with her RBI and two hits.
- Eight different Quakers combined for the team's 11 hits.
- Lesko's home run also marks the team's first homer of the season.
- Smith and Anderson each doubled, while Brianna Brown added her fifth stolen base of the season.
- In the circle, Utschig went two innings, gave up three hits and four earned runs, striking out one batter.
- Riley, who was handed the loss, went 4.1 innings in relief, giving up three earned runs and striking out three.

Penn will welcome Coppin State for a three-game series this weekend, playing at Penn Park for the first time this season. The Quakers will take on the Eagles in a Friday doubleheader that starts at 3 p.m. (changed from Saturday due to the forecast of inclement weather that day), followed by a single game on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
