Princeton, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania's softball team fell in its series finale against Princeton Sunday afternoon. The Quakers dropped game three 6-3, from Strubing Field.
The Red and Blue scored first and cut the deficit within one in the top of the third, but the Tigers scored in the fourth and fifth innings to pull away with the win.
With the loss, Penn moves to 7-15 on the season and 2-4 in Ivy League play.

Now hitting in the leadoff spot, freshman
Megan Huang walked, stole second and advanced to third on a fielder's choice.
Sammy Fenton singled to right center, scoring Huang, giving the Quakers the 1-0 lead.
Starting pitcher,
Rachel Riley gave up a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first and with one out Julia Dumais homered to put Princeton ahead 2-1. The very next at-bat, Allison Ha sent one over the fence to extend the lead, 3-1.
The Tigers added another run in the bottom of the second after Sonia Zhang reached on a fielder's choice and advanced into scoring position after a walk to Lauren Sablone.
Payton Bean then entered the game with two outs and gave up a single which scored Zhang.
In the top of the third, the Quakers loaded the bases after three straight singles from
Chloe Lesko,
Dana Anderson, and Fenton. With two outs,
Katie Reagan, who leads the team in RBIs (15), drove in two with a single to right center, as the score stood 4-3.
Princeton extended the lead to two in the bottom of the fourth, as pinch runner Graciela Dominguez scored on a passed ball.
In the top of the fifth, Fenton picked up her third hit of the game with a double to left, as
Julia Mortimer walked, which put two on with no outs. Reagan laid down the sacrifice bunt which moved both runners into scoring position. Meghan Harrington entered the game in relief, got a strikeout, walked
Dakota Farmer, and got a ground out to end the inning, as the Quakers left the bases loaded.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers made the game 6-3 with back-to-back doubles.
With one final chance to mount a comeback, the Red and Blue landed the leadoff batter on, as Reagan led off the seventh with a walk.
Brianna Brown singled with one out, which moved
Maia Hartley into scoring position (who pinch ran for Reagan). Hartley was caught stealing, as Brown moved to second which left the Quakers down to their final out. Huang walked, and advanced to second on a wild pitch, which also moved Brown to third.
Delaney Smith walked which loaded the bases for Penn. Although Lesko reached safely four times throughout the day, the freshman popped up to short stop to end the game, as Princeton secured the 6-3 win.
Quaker Notemeal
- Penn out-hit Princeton nine to eight, despite the three-run loss.
- Fenton had three hits, which ties a season best set against Houston Christian back on March 5.
- Brown added two knocks, while Huang, Lesko, Anderson and Reagan added one.
- The Quakers walked 11 times against the Tigers, which is the most Penn has drawn in a single game this season.
- Starting pitcher, Riley fell to 2-8 after going 1.2 innings, giving up four hits and four earned runs. In relief, Bean went 4.1 innings, surrendered four hits, one earned run and struck out two.
