PHILADELPHIA- Entering its tenth consecutive Potter Cup, the University of Pennsylvania men's squash team will aim to claim the program's first national title at the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships, beginning this Friday at the Arlen Specter Squash Center. By securing the third seed, the Quakers earned a first round bye and will face the winner of Columbia/Western Ontario in the quarterfinals.
Previewing Penn
Penn recently finished a 12-2 regular season, where a 5-1 record in the Ivy League gave Penn an Ivy League title (shared with Princeton). The Red and Blue finished 10-0 at the Penn Squash Center, and are 37-0 at home since the 2019-20 season.
Salman Khalil was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, with a 4-3 record, going 4-2 in Ivy competition. Khalili played all seven matches at No. 1 and earned wins against Harvard's David Costales and Yale's Yee Xian Siow, who are both All-Ivy honorees. For the third straight year, Penn has garnered the top freshman honor in the conference.

The Quakers concluded the regular season ranked 3rd by the CSA and picked up wins against seven top-10 teams.
Freshman
Varun Chitturi finished 13-1, and 5-1 in Ivy play, senior Dany Santra concluded at 12-0 and 6-0 in conference competition, junior
Nathan Kueh finished at 11-2 and 5-1, while Hafez wrapped up at 11-1 and 6-0.

Previewing the Lions
Columbia finished the regular season 6-6, and 2-4 in Ivy competition. The Lions earned wins over Ivy opponents of Dartmouth and Cornell. Columbia also took down 10th-ranked Virginia, eighth-ranked Drexel, and 14th-ranked Williams.
Previewing the Mustangs
Western Ontario finished the regular season 6-4, winning its last five matches. The Mustangs picked up victories against Hobart, St. Lawrence, Queen's, Navy, and Chatham. Western earned the win over Columbia in the regular season, 5-4, on January 14.
Potter Cup Information
The Potter Cup serves as the premier event in men's collegiate squash, with the top eight teams competing for a national championship. Each team plays three matches regardless of results, with the completed matches serving to reseed each of the eight programs at the end of the year.
With a win on Friday, Penn would play the winner of #2 Princeton vs #7 Cornell/#10 Virginia, in the semifinals on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The Championship match is set for Sunday, at 10:30 a.m.
