Burney and Korzeniowski Garner USC Scholar All-America Honors

PHILADELPHIA – The awards keep coming for Leo Burney and Stas Korzeniowski of the University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team as the dynamic duo were named United Soccer Coaches (USC) Scholar All-Americans, announced on Thursday afternoon.

Burney and Korzeniowski earned Scholar All-America honors in 2024 after their dynamic performances on and off the field for Penn.

Defender Burney had a stellar senior year campaign, earning Second Team All-America, First Team All-Northeast Region, First Team All-Ivy, and Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year awards. Burney led a Quaker backend that allowed only 16 goals to hit the back of the net, an Ivy League low tally. The defender was also a force on the offensive end of the field, recording ten points, including four goals. The Seattle native signed a homegrown contract with the Seattle Sounders FC in December.

Forward Korzeniowski was a force on the pitch this year, grabbing Ivy League co-Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Ivy, and First All-Northeast Region honors. The senior tallied a Quaker-high 26 points and 12 goals. The New Jersey native sat first among the Ivies in game-winning goals (5), second in goals (12), goals (12), shots on goal (36), and third in points (26) to end the season. Korzeniowski moved up in the Red and Blue's record book, holding second all-time in points (81), fifth in goals (32), and eighth in assists (17).
