How It Happened
Daniel Ittcheria fired early on for the Tigers in the second and third minutes, but goalkeeper Falcon made a pair of saves quickly in the match. Five minutes later, Dash Papez slammed one at Falcon, which allowed Ittcheria to sneak in and score the first goal of the day.
A minute later, Ittcheria tried to score again, but his shot was blocked by Penn's defense. The Tigers continued their dominance, tallying three shots between the 13th and 15th minutes, but all three were misdirected before they could hit the back of the net.
Sophomore Falcon stood on his head in the 22nd minute, stopping back-to-back shots off a free-kick opportunity to hold the match at 1-0. The Quakers finally registered their first shots in the matchup in the 29th minute as
Charlie Gaffney and sophomore Jeremiah attempted off target shots that ended up being the final shots of the half.
The Red and Blue opened the second half with some fire, as
Jack Wagoner rocketed a shot towards goalkeeper Andrew Samuels that soared above his goal. The shot did not deter the Tigers as they doubled their lead in the 59th minute off a shot from Ian Nunez to push the game to 2-0. In the 71st minute, Princeton continued the pressure as Kevin Kelly tried to fire one past Falcon, but senior Burney stepped in and blocked the shot.
With time dwindling, Princeton's Ittcheria scored his second goal in the 75th minute to up the lead to 3-0. In a whirlwind of events in the 83rd minute, midfielder Jeremiah rocketed the ball towards goalkeeper Samuel, which trickled over to senior Curran, who attempted a shot at the post.
Senior Burney cleaned up after Curran's shot, sneaking one past Samuels to cut the lead to 3-1 with less than five minutes left of regulation. Unfortunately, there was not enough time for a Penn comeback as the Tigers won the match and tournament.
