PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania men's squash team, defending Potter Cup national champion and ranked first in the College Squash Association's preseason poll, will open its season this weekend with a busy schedule.

The Quakers will travel to Lancaster to face Franklin & Marshall at 1 p.m. on Friday. They will then return home to host Haverford at 10 a.m. and Drexel at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, Penn will host Dickinson at 9 a.m. and Chatham at 1 p.m.

How to Watch:
Franklin & Marshall
Haverford
Drexel

Previewing Penn:
Head coach Gilly Lane, entering his 9th season with the Quakers, has guided the team to an impressive 30-2 record over the past two seasons. Last year, he led Penn to its first-ever Potter Cup in program history.

In 2023-24, the Quakers finished the regular season with a 15-1 record, including a 5-1 mark in conference play. The team remained undefeated at home, posting a perfect 10-0 record at the Penn Squash Center.

Key Returners:
Penn returns three All-Ivy players: Omar Hafez, Nick Spizzirri, and Salman Khalil Salman, the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. All three were named first-team CSA All-America, as well, and combined for an impressive 32-6 overall record including a 16-2 mark in Ivy play.

Additional returners include notable performers such as:
Nathan Kueh (14-2 record)
Varun Chitturi (16-1 record)
Dana Sentry (13-1 record)

Team captains Roger Baddour (1-3) and Abdelrahman Dweek (10-4) will also provide leadership as the team looks to build on last season's success. Baddour shared, "Every season brings new challenges, and we are looking to repeat as National Champions and win the Ivy Championship outright."

New Additions:
Penn welcomes three new freshmen — Zane Patel, Marwan Tamer, and Rustin Wiser — who will look to compete for starting positions throughout the season.
