How It Happened
Korzeniowski did not waste any time in the match, sneaking one past Dartmouth's goalkeeper Costi Christodoulou to put Penn up 1-0 in the third minute. Junior
Erickson Sakalosky registered the next shot of the game in the 11th minute but could not find the back of the net.
The Big Green's Blake Trenton found an opening in the 22nd minute only to be saved by Falcon to hold the battle at 1-0. Trenton tried again in the 23rd minute, but his shot went wide before it could cause any damage.
Forward Korzeniowski drew a huge foul in the 39th minute, setting sophomore
Joaquin Niehenke with a free kick opportunity. The sophomore was able to capitalize off the attempt, crossing the ball over to
Romeo Dahlen, which allowed the freshman to dish it to Burney, who scored in the 40th minute to push the Quakers' lead to 2-0.
Entering the second half, Penn's
Jack Wagoner slammed one towards Christodoulou, but his shot went wide at the last second.
The Big Green cut the lead to 2-1 in the 54th minute off a goal from Vasilis Moiras. The goal sparked momentum for Dartmouth and Moiras as he scored ten minutes later to tie the game at two.
Penn would not go down silently, drawing a corner opportunity in the 68th minute that shifted the pace back in the Red and Blue's favor. Senior Curran netted in the game-winner off feeds from
Oliver Pratt and
Patrick Cayelli to put Penn ahead 3-2 with time dwindling. In the 70th and 75th minutes, the Big Green's Moiras added two more shots to the board, but sophomore Falcon stopped both to help secure the win and Penn's spot in the Ivy League Tournament.
