How It Happened
The Quakers started the contest with a furious pace, as senior Rebstock scored a touchdown 45 seconds in to give Penn a lead that would not be relinquished. On their first possession of the game, The Lions could not compete and were forced to punt away. Penn was not finished scoring as quarterback Malone completed a 23-yard pass to
Jason Sheairs to push the lead to 14-0 lead for the Quakers.
The Lions had another opportunity on the clock but fumbled the rock, leading to another Rebstock touchdown to extend the Quakers' lead to 21. Sophomore Goodman got his time in the end zone on the next possession, rushing for 23 yards to bump the game to 28-0 halfway through the first. Molloy tried to carry confidence into its next drive, but quarterback Pauline Drummond V was sacked twice by
Jake Inserra, Janock, and
Colin Cross to end any offensive chances.
Rebstock continued his hot streak to open the second quarter, rushing home for three six seconds in to push the deficit to 35. The senior ended his career-high outing with his fourth and final touchdown of the game at the 5:50 mark of the second to put the battle at 42-0 to end the first half.
Coming out of the break, both teams agreed to play two 10-minute halves. The Lions gave it their all at the start of the third quarter but were not productive on their first drive. Penn dominated most of the third, running down the clock to the last minute after playing the ball for 6:29 minutes.
The Quakers added one final insurance touchdown in the fourth from first-year Lu to put the game at its final tally of 49-0. On Molloy's second play of its drive,
Josh Johnson recovered a fumble to allow the Quakers to hold control of the ball to the final whistle.
